Provocan un cuadro febril denominado dengue clásico. Estos virus infectan anualmente a más de 390 millones de personas y más de 3.000 millones de humanos corren el riesgo de contraer la infección. A nivel mundial, el dengue es la enfermedad más común por Arbovirus, con 40% de la población mundial viviendo en zonas de transmisión. De las 390 millones de infecciones estimadas y 100 millones de casos anuales, una proporción progresa a formas graves. Aproximadamente uno de cada 2000 casos de dengue son mortales. La tasa de letalidad de los afectados por Dengue grave se reduce de casi el 10% a menos del 0.1% si se actúa rápidamente con atención apropiada.
